Unhappy lfs sold wrong sump pump help

I have a corner flow 110 tank 48x18x36 not a reef tank but it was on sale. It has 6 feet of head on the pump and sold me a little giant 2-mdq-sc not mush flow left.
and I'm getting a in line chiller 1 / 8HP TECO SeaChill Chiller TR10
Here is the question; What size pump do I need to make this right.

With only 3/4" line down to the sump, you can't really move that much. Maybe a MAG9.5? Is your pump external or internal? Do you have a drilled tank, or is there an external overflow? What is your overflow rated for? More details will help get you answers...

Re: lfs sold wrong sump pump help

In that case, then I would think a MAG7 or MAG9.5 would be ideal as a return pump. I have had good luck with Danner pumps, I had a pair of MAG12's that ran flawlessly for years.

If you do the 9.5, you will need a ballvalve on the output, probably.

Re: lfs sold wrong sump pump help

mag pumps are internal or can it be external. I don't need to max it out so 7 will do 400 at 6 with 6 foot head
I'd like to stick with external type I think
And the chiller I can put it inline or do you think I'll need a different pump
sorry about all the Q

Re: lfs sold wrong sump pump help

MAG Pumps can be ran either way, and as for the chiller, I would run it on a seperate pump, the flow rate for the chiller will have to be determined by the manufacturer, it may be to slow for to be ran inline with your return.
