    ATB Cone skimmers

Is anyone here using one of these or have you seen one in operation?
    ATB Skimmers

The design looks really nice and the reviews aren't bad at all but there aren't many to read. The school is getting the funds together to put an aquaculture system in the ecotoxicology building. I was shopping around for skimmers and came across these. I don't believe I'll purchase one until there is more peer review but the design looks really effective.

Boy, those sure are pricey! Have you looked at the ATI line, around my parts they are all the rage. ;)

I have been very impressed by the Volcano skimmers too though.

    Re: ATB Cone skimmers

I have seen the bubblemaster skimmers online but never in person. The reviews on them are very good. Until today I hadn't seen or heard of the volcano either but it looks promising as well. It seems like all the new designs have that piece with holes in the top of it down in the bottom of the base. I'm guessing this is to produce even more fine microbubbles? It's hard to imagine anything performing better than my Euro Reef but compared to these it is very simple.

I think that plate is there to reduce turbulence. (Not sure I understand that.) I have made my water/air mixture spin, it seems to produce a very stable foam head, and at least to my mind, spinning the reaction chamber increases contact time. A friend of mine has a Volcano, I have not seen it in person yet, but I have watched a couple youtube videos with them, and all I can say is.... WOW!

Looks really nice. What size is that skimmer and what type of system is it on?
