Im planning on getting..
A new canister filter for the 55g and i need some advice on what to get, keep in my im planning on using the canister for a 130g in early 09'.thanks

You're better off without the canister filter, you should be using lots of liverock instead, it will be money better spent!

I agree. Skip the canister and look for a quality skimmer.

If you have to use a canister filter..... use one with carbon in it, nothing else. Otherwise rock is the way to go.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the canister filter and what you have in your system right now, Can you describe your system a little bit and tell me why you think you need a canister filter? Then I can give some advice.
