lower remora protein skimmer noise!

Hey everyone. I just got an aquac remora protein skimmer. It is really nice and I got a good deal for it. It is noisy. I know it should get quieter over time but i was wondering: Is there anything you guys have done in the past to lower the noise of the skimmer? thanks!

Mine is noisy too. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they sent me another, only this one is noisier. You can try cutting some filter padding and put it in the injector chamber. Just make sure that you don't put it down too far to be in the way of the water spray. It will help muffle the noise a little. I am waiting on the manufacturer to send me a valve to adjust the flow of the pump. They say that might help. I'm hoping.

Yeah they are great skimmers but the noise isn't nice.

If you place your CLEAN finger where the water comes out and close the gap between the plastic and the water, then you will notice that the sound disappears. The sound inside of the chamber is still there, just it is contained within.

I am going to try and make a silicon piece to put here somehow so that the gap is filled. I just need to figure out how I can attach it so that I don't mess up the skimmer or let any dangerous chemicals leak into the tank.

Any suggestions?
