GenX GX 18000 pump

I was given this pump the other day. It had been allowed to run dry and no longer works. The exact amount of time running dry is unknown but could have been as long as 12 hours. The consensus was that it had burned up and wouldn't work again. I'm trying to take it apart to clean it in hopes that we are wrong. I can get the guard and face plate off but that's as far as I can get. The plate under the impeller moves a little bit so I think that it comes off. The impeller turns in either direction but I can't pull it out. I have no manual and can't find one online. Every website says the exact same thing about this pump. Does anyone have experience with them?

I would say the pump is shot. The windings are most likely cooked. But save it for parts.
