    Marineland - Marine Series Aquariums

Just saw an ad today. 36" wide Starphire glass tanks that are 27" tall (I think) and range in length from 3' - 6'. They are also advertising their Marine Series skimmers and sumps, but the tanks really caught my eye. Anyone saw them, heard about them and more importantly know anything about the price?

My friend Chris just ordered a 36x36 model, I will get over there and take some pictures when it comes in.

Are they made in Indiana? Did they drop the Perfecto brand name? What is the thickness of the Starphire glass, do you know? I wonder what their warranty is? At least the canopy looks taller than the standard Oceanic or Aqueon (All-Glass) canopies.

Here is a corporate history for Marineland. It's hard to keep track of who owns what nowadays.

P.S. -- It's about time that the chain-store type aquarium manufacturers started offering Starphire glass as a standard feature. When you consider all the costs that go into the manufacture of the tank, the additional cost of Starphire glass does not increase their cost all that much at all compared to how attractive it is. The problem is that in the past, manufacturers like Oceanic tried to charge outrageous prices for Starphire tanks once they got around to even offering them at all.

I'm not sure about any of those details. There was a fold out ad in the new AFI, s 3 page foldout ad. It doesn't have anymore detail than the image I posted except that the unveiling would be soon and on their site too. Two things caught my eye; that they are 36" wide and the starphire glass.

Re: Marineland - Marine Series Aquariums

    Hello,
I haven't got one in yet but I did get the pricing and literature for the tanks, stands, skimmers, pumps etc. There was only a small difference in price between the regular and Starphire front tanks. All the tanks are 36" wide and 27" tall. They come in 3, 4, 5, and 6 foot lengths.

    Regards,
    Kevin
PS: I'm pretty sure they are being marketed under the "Marineland" name.

Re: Marineland - Marine Series Aquariums

First I have to say it is VERY inconvenient for some forums to have to resize your pictures in order to post.
It took me longer to post this than it did to set up the tank.

    Anyway...
    I have the tank you are talking about. I got the starphirre glass with it and it's awesome. I just wish I could afford to fill the 6 footer because I would have that one right now instead. .....in the future..... ;;

The glass is 1/2" thick and is polished along the edges. It is a really nice tank.
The warranty is LIFETIME if you purchase the stand with it.
You can't beat that. 1yr without the stand.

I got the stand, tank and canopy and it cost me a little over $1200
    Breakdown:
    Tank: $801.68
    Stand: $223.84
    Canopy: $140.74

LFS was having a 30% off (or something like that) sale... so you know why I ended up with it.
Been running now for about 3 weeks.

    Anyway..... here it is:

I thought that there might be another around you that has the information. The two that you do have, are these larger retail chains?

Re: Marineland - Marine Series Aquariums

I got mine from a place in PA called Something Fishy. GREAT store if your in the area at all. Worth the trip if your within driving distance for sure.
Anyway the tank looks different now but still doing really well. I have had a few algae problems and all my snails disappeared except one lone snail but that's about it.
I really really want the 6 ft. long tank but I'm putting so much money into this sucker already I can't imagine that happening without hitting the powerball lottery.
Here's some pictures of the tank now:

Re: Marineland - Marine Series Aquariums

We had a club meeting at one of the members LFS and they had the 6' tank there for sell. If I had the room it would have come home with me. The price they had for the set up was $2400 with the starphire front.
