Re: Nano and a Calcium Reactor?
No, but all reefs need a method to keep the calcium and alkalinity up. On smaller tanks I like Ocean Blend 2-part. That is not to say that a calcium reactor couldn't be used because it certainly could, but not necessary.

Re: Nano and a Calcium Reactor?
To add to what Scott said, I put one on my 25 gallon tank. It does have a fair amount of corals in it for the size tank though. Without the reactor I have to add buffer and calcium once a week which is not to bad. With that said it is easy over do it with such a small system. Turn the effluent up a little to much and things can go south really quickly. Either way as long as you are adamant about checking things regularly both seem to require equal amounts of maintainence. Personally I like the techno-gadgets.

Re: Nano and a Calcium Reactor?
I have a Barr Aquatic reactor on the tank. It is way over kill. (I used to work for him building them) Anyway, my return pump is a mag 7 and I use a T-connector with a reducer to run the line to the reactor. I figure it is better to use less pumps etc. Also since the effluent enters the sump, if the main pump goes out then the effluent cannot overdoes the sump....... As for power heads there are 4 in the tank. I have somewhere around 1500gph flow in it.
