Sea Swirl Making Clunking noises

My 3/4" Sea Swirl makes a couple of clunking noises when it reverses direction.

My understanding is that no salt water goes through anything but the conduit, so there shouldn't be any salt or calcium build-up anywhere in the movement mechanism to clean.

Has anyone else ever had this problem, and if so, what did you do about it?

There seems to be a problem with the 3/4" models that were purchased in the last 6 months.......I would give them an e-mail

my 3/4 bit the dust soon after I started hearing the "clunking" noises. That was 4 months ago, approx 1 month after I bought it.

Crimson, did you try and pursue getting your money back or a new one?

actually, I should add, I DID NOT pursue getting a replacement unit because(my own stupidity) 1) I lost my receipt and 2) I was out of town for a month. I have to add that It really is a cool aparatus and I have heard many more people having "good" experiences with it than bad. I'm also planning on buying 2 1" models for my new 180Gal if that tells you anything.

Eddie from the Aquarium Currents, Inc. company which makes Sea Swirls got back to me right away. He says he will replace the 3/4" unit because of some problems with defective motors.

Excellent customer service!

Crimsoncoral, do you still have the 3/4" ss? If you're not going to pursue a replacement, shoot me an email, I'd like to dissect it. Build one, and fix yours! Let me know, Bill.

I just got an email from Ed at the Sea Swirl company, Aquarium Currents, Inc., and my replacement Sea Swirl is on the way.

He has been great to work with, and I highly recommend their company and their product. I'm anxious to get the Sea Swirl back in my tank.
