dried rock and sand

Hello, It's been a while since I posted.

Anyway, I have a large piece of (formerly) live rock and (formerly) live sand. It was in a refuge that was leaking and I never transfered the rock and sand to the new refuge (which is now just a sump). Both the rock and the sand are completely dried out.

I wanted to get a refuge going for my tank again. Anything I need to worry about before putting the dried rock and sand back in the sump? Is the rock completely worthless at this point? The sand in some kind of argonite sand, so I'm assuming it still would offer some buffering benefits?

Specs:
100 gal display
30 gal sump/refuge

Thanks

Nate

The rock should be fine but you may want to give it a real good rinsing in RO/DI water prior to adding it. The sand I recently found out can be used again as well. Rinse multiple times.

Re: dried rock and sand

What you could do that would help matters would be to add a couple pieces of good live rock to the now dead live rock when you put it back in your sump.
