Best NW skimmer for the money?

Octopus appears to be hitting the limelight lately, anyone else have thoughts about these skimmeres? Im looking at the NW200 model which I think would be comparable to the ASMG3 skimmers which are basically $100 more! Theres a nice mesh mod for these too.

Re: Best NW skimmer for the money?

If there in sump / external models work as well as the HOB then they are definitely worth the money. I have heard nothing but good things about the Octopus skimmers which is why I got the HOB for my tank and the build quality seems to be top notch to me. I am pulling more skimmate now than I ever did with my other skimmer and i haven't modded this thing at all.

Hey Tim
Thanx for your input, can you give us model number you are using or do they only have one HOB skimmer? Any pics? Where did you buy it from and how much was it?

Re: Best NW skimmer for the money?

The model I am using is the BH-300F. It is rated for 135g tanks. It is somewhat of a recirc model since one pump pulls in the water and the other just recircs it and adds even more air. I have it on my 47g right now, but may move it to the 75g WHEN it gets up and running. I bought mine from Aquarium Specialty since they are local to me but they seemed to have the best price as well. There website is Aquarium Specialty Check em out.
