    Coralife Super Skimmer...

I am considering buying a skimmer for my 10 gallon nano, and I have been looking at reviews for the Coralife Super Skimmer. So far I am impressed with all of the reviews it has, as well as the possible modifications to make it skim even more efficiently for the price.

I was just wondering further if anyone has has any experience with this skimmer either good or bad.

    thanks

    Re: Coralife Super Skimmer...

I have a Coralife Super Skimmer on my 55g tank. I got the CSS 125 brand new for $120 and couldnt pass it up. So far I have been pleased with how it works. I know there are better skimmers out there and in the future will be upgrading but just to get my tank up and going it has worked great.

    Re: Coralife Super Skimmer...

i had a css65 on my 20L a couple years ago. it worked pretty good. the pump was a bit noisey though. it was very quirky and required daily tuning, so not a really good choice for someone that doesnt like to tinker. if you hang it off the back of your 10g tank, you will have to have a topoff system of sorts to keep the water level very consistant. any little change like daily evaporation will cause it to act up. it liked to overflow every once in a while. not sure why. if you can put it in a sump, i believe that would be optimal.
i have a cpr bakpak 2r that has been working pretty good for me on my 29g QT tank. it is less prone to overflowing, less finicky and requires less tinkering. it works ok as is, but if you get the skimmer cup(allows the skimmer to take water off the surface, to keep the surface scum to a min) it works much more efficiently and produces "better", thicker skimmate. the skimmer cup can be purchased seperately or you can make your own like i did with some spare scrap acrylic. mine has the maxjet 1200 for a pump. i would rec. the cpr over the css65. a lot higher build quality in the cpr.
