    RedSea Prizm

Hey all. I need a Skimmer on one of my tanks bad! On my 55 Gallon tank for filteration i am running Emporer400, and Emporer280. The 400 alone is rated enough for the tank. But we all know that you really cant trust that rating. So im trying to put the 280 on a quarentine or something. Im looking for a good skimmer preferrably a hang on which i know is kinda hard to find. So of course the first one i come across fitting my needs is the Prizm. Iv heard a lot of mixed feelings with this skim. My buddy bought it a couple years ago, and said he hated it, but iv heard from others that live by it. Im having a hard time finding user reviews for it on Google. So does anybody on here have one? Used One? And also can you guys please recommend some better ones. That arent Too costely? I dont have a lot of room to set it somewhere thats why i like the hang on type. Thanks Kyle

The prizms do function however it is not your best option for a hang on skimmer. The Aqua C Remora Pro skimmers can be a little noisy at times but do a great job. CPR and Octopus also make hang on models but I have no experience with either of them.

I have had both the Prizm and the Prizm Pro. I wouldn't put them on anything larger than a 40 gallon aquarium. The pro works much better than the standard model.

Like you I have heard mixed reviews about the Prism skimmers. Unforutantely most of them where on the bad side. That steered me towards the AqauC years ago. It has been working great ever since. When I set up another small tank an AquaC will be my first option without reservations.

    Re: RedSea Prizm

thanks man. Im running the prizm basic right now. I heard you have gotta let it run for like a week to break in fully. But its already pulling up a lot of skimmate into the cone. Its not fully broken in yet cause its not spillin over to the catch cup. But it will. Im still looking for a better one. just using this right now. Doesnt seem too bad neways. And pretty quiet suprisingly from what iv heard. Im still running an Emporer400 and Emporer280 for filteration with it in a 55 gallon so im kicking ass..lol
Im going to go read that now thanks again!!
