is it HOB or in sump, if its the latter i'd reccommend either a aquaC or Euroreef the latter being the easiest to clean and run, while still doing an unbeleivably efficient job at skimming...hth

look up MYREEF he diy good becket skimmers. beckets are very powerful skimmers =bullet,aerofoamers and hsa. Not sure the cost but pretty close to what you want. He makes what you want http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/atl/a/d/adaiss/ FWIW the becket is what makes the skimmer
