sedra 5000 pump is frozen

My sedra pump is frozen. The propeller will not spin. I have taken it apart and cleaned the pumped. It still will not spin. I have moved the propeller by hand and it will spin for a short time. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what I need to do to solve this problem?

Well unfortunately it sounds like the motor has gone bad on your pump. The are a few things internally that could have gone bad. When you manually turn the impeller is it really stiff, then kinda loose, then stiff again? If so a bearing has gone bad inside which is the most common problem. The only thing you can do on a pump such as this is to replace it. This is something that will happen from normal wear and tear but if it seems premature it could have just been a manufacturing issue.
