What is the easiest and cheapest way to get enough RO/DI for a 55 gal tank? I have heard people talking about buying individual gallons and people talking about various other methods. What kind of options do I have for water to use?

Option #1: Move to San Diego where filtered natural seawater is FREE at Scripps.
Option #2: Move to Seattle where filtered natural seawater is 5 cents/gallon at the Seattle Aquarium. San Diego has better weather.
Option #3: Buy your own R.O./D.I. filter.
Option #4: Buy R.O. water from Walmart for 25 cents a gallon. It's sold in bulk for 25 cents a gallon if you bring your own containers. It's in a machine in the front of Walmart Super Centers. The machine says "Drinking Water."
Option #5: Buy distilled water from Walmart for about 68 cents a gallon in one-gallon jugs.

I have this Seachem. Prime
it's what I have been using with my water...how does it rate?
it was recommended by this lady at the LFS who has been doing saltwater for 12 years...figure she knows something.
That has nothing to do with your first question about R.O./D.I. water. That's just another dechlorinator/dechloraminator. It's still tapwater, just tapwater without the chlorine or chloramine.
