    28 Bowfront question

I have had my 28 Bowfront for 3 years now. The first year I kept Cichlids for a year then I started my reef set up and have been sucessfull so far (knock on wood LOL). I just purchased a 150 HQI Halide/T5 light fixture for the tank and I love it but some light gets blocked from the plastic center strip in the rim of the tank. Would it do anything negativley to the tank if I dremel out an opening down th4e middle so that the light gets through? Thanks in advance.

I really don't think I would do that if I were you, especially with a bowfront.

Not even a little slit to have some light peek through? I was thinking just a few inches long down the middle and maybe about 1/4 inch wide.

Anything that you cut out will compromise the tank and probably void the guarantee!!!

The center brace does cause a slight shadow, but if you have something that hides from the intense light more than others, that's the perfect place for it to go. Eventually you won't even notice the shadow that is cast anymore and neither will anyone else.

The brace helps to hold the bowed piece of glass in place. Take a look at the front corners where the seams are and you'll see the bow is on the outside.
