return pump and over flow

I have a 55 gal. tank with a 10 gal. sump. And I am using a CS90 continous siphon overflow 600 gph and a Quiteone model 1200 296 gph return pump. The head height on the return pump is 4 ft. with 2 90's. Water doesn't appear to be circulating properly. Is my return pump too small?

Yes, your pump is too small... I would go with at least a mag 5 if I were you. Better yet you can go even bigger and plumb a ball valve in the return line for adjustment purposes.

I also have a 55g tank and I had to use a mag 12 pump. I tried a mag 7 and it barely pushed any water. Even with a mag 12 I need to other ways of circulating throughout the tank.
