    Dang Microbubbles!!!!!

So I've noticed an increase in some sort of particles in my display that I think are microbubbles. I definitely see a lot of them in my sump and I don't know where they're coming from. Could it be the skimmer and/or return pump? Should I replace both of them? I know what kind of skimmer I have. :\

    Not sure I'm following you...

Does your sump have bulkheads built in? Most sumps, or at least the good ones, have bulkheads between the inflow, skimmer, and outflow... Some call it a bubble-trap but most setups are similar, if not identical. Look at the DIY threads for sumps and see if your sump is set up/designed correctly.

If the problem is of a particulate nature instead of left-over skimmer bubbles then a filter sock may help. Some folks use sponges in their sumps for the same reasons, usually in the bottom of the "bubble-trap" that leads back to the return pump. The only drawback to using socks or sponges is that you have to keep them squeaky clean or they will become nitrate factories in short order.

I think I do have bulkheads if they are also called bubble traps. I think I might replace my current unknown skimmer with the Euroreef RS80 and the pump with a Mag 5 just to update the equipment. As well as replacing the flimsy piping with PVC.
