    Re: Need suggestions on skimmer

Thanks metalhead, I just did a leak test on the first chamber where the intake and skimmer will sit, no leaks. First time working with silicone so I'm proud of my work, looks like its my first time too, but there are no leaks. I'm gonna start to get the 2nd baffle/bubble trap ready for placement now. It's 3:30 somewhere, time to crack a silver bullet.

Check 'em out. Bubble trap siliconed in place, i'm gonna let it set for a day or 2 before checking the second over baffle for leaks. Still need to put the return baffle in place.

    Sump completed

I tested the bubble trap for leaks on Sunday, no leaks. I put the return baffle in yesterday morning and tested it not long ago and no leaks there either. Now I'm planning the plumbing for the overflow and return pumps. I don't know if i should just use flex hose on the overflow, or pvc with unions for convenience of disassembling. I want to use a union and ball valve on the return which will be a mag 7 so when its time to clean the pump and impeller it can be removed easily. Its getting there though, I'm gettin excited for this set up. I'm heading out to Florida for my grandmothers birthday the end of the week, I return on monday and took the rest of the week off work to relax and work on the tank. I will post some pics of the completed sump, maybe even in action.

    Re: Need suggestions on skimmer

A few days after my last reply my computer crashed. Harddrive konked out. I just got a new Toshiba Satellite yesterday, and decided I gotta check reefland and see whats going on. I still haven't gotten my new skimmer, probably a month or two. Tank is doing well though, I haven't had a chance to set up the sump yet. I'm gonna wait untl I get the new skimmer.
