    Heater placement

I'm real close at getting some water in my tank. Wondering about the heaters. I have read that it is a good idea to have the heaters in the tank instead of the sump. Was wanting to keep the heaters in the sump but my tank looks pretty big (180) to not have at least some of the heat in the tank. I live in an area where it gets mighty cold in the winter and living in an old farm house doesn't help much. What do you guys think? Thanks, Bill

    Iron Crab,

Do you have a corner overflow(or the like)? If so, that's a good place for it too. I placed my primary heater in the corner overflow and my backup heater in my sump. HTH

Aragorn: Thanks for that idea! My heater was too big to go in my sump so it's in my main tank. Wow. The heat is evenly distributed if I put it in the corner overflow?

    Joanne,

Well, FWIW, I take readings from both sides of my tank and it's stable throughout.

I'm gonna have to say thanks too. Never thought of that. I have two corner overflows with one close to a wall so that would be perfect to keep it out of sight. Thanks again, Bill
