    Protein Skimmer help

Just set up a new tank with half the water established and half brand new water because i've upgraded to a 30 gallon. I set up a skimmer and haven't gotten any skimmate yet. There are barely any bubbles. So the question is... how long does it take before the bubbles start going crazy. I think there may be something clogged or the pump is not strong enough. The protein skimmer is used and I'm thinking about buying another one. Could it be my tank has too much new but again, i have no idea how these are used. THanks.

    Re: Protein Skimmer help

If it is a brand new skimmer, give it a week, even if it is used, you are going to have to be a little patient.
You need to give us a little more info here, how much live rock in the new tank?
    What kind of skimmer?????????

It's the super skimmer rated for 65 gallons. Not sure exactly how many lbs of live rock but it covers at least 40-50% of the tank... Skimmer has actually been set up for at least 2 weeks. I am now getting no bubbles whatsoever. Don't know what's wrong

Maybe, just maybe the skimmer is a piece of garbage. Who makes your skimmer, that is what I am trying to find out.
Are you sure that it is adjusted correctly????

That would definitely be an improvement.

is this the needle wheel skimmer model from coralife? if so make sure your needle wheel is spinning . You can unscrew the prop on the front of the pump and free hand it
