    Plumbing, Flow and suggestions

Hey all, looking for some suggestions here. I'm going to have my tank drilled this Thursday, and want some input. I'm moving from a 46BF to the 70G Oceanic. I have approx 100lbs of live rock, 4 fish (2-3" each). Reason for the move...Just no room under the 46g stand for anything and it currently has a crushed coral bed. grrr

I've created some images below to refer to.

Basic Information: 70 gallon Oceanic, 29g sump (fish tank), LPS Reef with a few fish, CaribSea Aragamax Sugar Sized Sand or similar Sugar Sized sand.

I'm torn between a single overflow, and a dual overflow (with 1 drain supplying the Refugium).

So my top question at this point is: Single or Dual 1" Overflow/s?
I know I can use the single without any issues, but I'm curious what people think about a Dual Drain setup as I have laid out. (The drain going to the fuge will be regulated for a slower flow if using the dual overflow).

I also figured that with a dual overflow, if one is not supplying the Refugium, that it can act as a "fail-safe" incase of the main drain becoming clogged, as well as perhaps later increasing the flow through the system.

I will have my tank drilled this week based on suggestions and recommendations. I'm looking for criticism here, so don't be shy

I'll put information here and then questions.

I've based my acrylic overflows using measurements from a kit that a friend bought and used from glass-holes. I'd just buy theirs, but I'm a DIY type of person. (although a little scared about drilling the tank myself). Both overflows are pretty much identical to their 700gph kit, and the 1500gph kit (with the exception that my drains will be 1" bulkheads instead of 1.5").

    Questions:
Return pump - using the images below, would a pump with ~4-500gph through the sump be sufficient? (Mag 7, Eheim 1260) I would like approx 4-500gph, and at the same time, not create a dust storm in the tank.

Power heads - Same as above question, figuring in the return pump volume.

Sand - CaribSea Aragamax Sugar Sized Sand. 90 lbs to create a 3" sandbed? I'm unsure to be honest.
*** and a heads up, Dr. Foster and Smith have a special on shipping atm, 5.99 flat rate (ground) regardless of weight*** FREE Shipping on Dog and Cat Healthcare & $5.99 Flat Rate Ground Shipping at Drs Foster and Smith

Fuge - Leftover sand from the sandbed or one the the "Mud" products?
***I'm considering a Duplex system for the fuge area. Your thoughts?

Return Outlets - Out along the sides of the overflow, or right out the fron towards the front of the tank (direction can be adjusted using Modular Pipes).

Guess thats it for now. I'm sure I will have other questions as this comes along.

    Thanks!
Sorry about the pic's being so big!

Dual or single overflow? As mentioned, the single will work, but I'm looking for thoughts about the dual setup and future upgrades.

    Re: Plumbing, Flow and suggestions

I think you could easily get away with just a single overflow in your 70g tank. If anything, I would make sure that my drain would acomodate 1/5" pipe and not 1" and return would be 1". This would allow me to install better pump and be more efficient in the circulation of the tank.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.
