etss skimmer problems

I'm looking for awnsers, my etss 800 skimmer will not skim. I am running it with a gormen rupp 518 pump fresh live rock was put in wed. I've had the tank running empty for a month prior but just added live sand and live rock on wed. Skimmer should have exploded but so far, regardless of water column height I can't get any real foam production. Anyone had similar experiences? Water is currently yellow so lack of protien is not an issue. Thanks

i am unfamiliar with youre pump how many gph at ?head,is it pressure rated?
