    bag of carbon

i just set-up a 1 week old nano reef .. im considering 2 clowns along with the usual clean-up crew in about 4 weeks.. do i need to use the small bag of carbon in the filtration system at rear of tank or can i just let the 9.5kg of live rock and protein skimmer do there work ??

As far as I am concerned, it wouldn't hurt, but it may be a waste, because the system is still cycling. Maybe after another 2 weeks would be better. JMHO

When you say that your nano tank is 48 liters (12.7 US gallons, 10.6 Imperial gallons) does that include the built-in filtration?

In any case, it's really a little on the small side for a pair of clownfish. I hate to see even ocellaris clowns or percula clowns kept in anything smaller than a 20-gal tank.

That size tank is better suited to just one or two very small gobies at the most.

P.S. -- The bag of carbon is a good idea. It's chemical filtration. It removes a lot of stuff and it helps keep the water nice and clear. I would start using it at any time and change it out every 4-6 weeks.
