Question Marineland SOS Overflows?

Anyone using these overflows? Do you like it?
I'm getting ready to replace mine and I'm wanting to get some opinions about it. The one I have now is a peice of crap! It seems everytime I go out of town it loses it's siphon and the pump runs dry. It's gotta go!

I've had one on my 120 for over a year now. When I first got it it worked great for about three months with no problems. Pretty quiet also. But then I started having problems with it loosing it's siphon. I would manually re-start the siphon and a week later it would loose it again. Then it dawned on me "DUH" the "U" tube thing might be cloged. So I removed it and cleaned it thuroghly and that did the trick. Now I just make sure I clean it every two months and have had no problems since. One of the nice things about this overflow is that the "U" tube thing comes out by itself without having to remove the whole overflow for cleaning. One of the bad things is it doesn't handle a lot of water. The best thing you can do for overflow boxes (which ever kind you have) is to keep the siphon airline tubing hooked up to a strong venturi and keep it out of the light as much as possible. I actually use a black airline so no light penatrates it clogging it. And when you clean the "U" tube, clean the airline of slime also. HTH
