Mini Jet 606 maybe? I've used the 404's for many QT's and replacement for my JBJ. Not a peep unless it's running dry.![]()
My first set-up is an 8 gl Oceanic Bio-Cube purchased in August 2009. At first the water pump was semi-quiet. It got louder as the weeks went by. I contacted Oceanic, they warranty replaced the water pump with a new one. This one was very quiet, for a few weeks. I'm back to square one with an awfully noisey pump. Help - any suggestions on a "quite" water pump that is about 2x2x1 or 2x2x2 (to fit down the chamber) with an output no greater than 106/108 gph? Suri would appreaciate it.

Yes - funny you mentioned that unit. I'm familiar with them since I use the Mini-Jet 404 in my livingroom fountain. I was ready to order one on-line today but thought I'ld give the forum a shot first. Right now I'm running fresh water. I think the Mini-Jet may be the way to go. I would like to have a saltwater tank in the future and I'm "pretty" sure the Mini-Jet will not support the salt. Your thoughts on the salt issue?
Thanks!
It'll do fine. All of my applications are saltwater use and the first one I replaced with the 404 is still running. That was about 4 years ago.

Hummm, interesting. I was stating that the pump may not support salt since the pump "died" in my fountain. It looked sort of corroded when I took it out. Could that have been due to the fact that the fountain had tap water running through it, probably hard water, chemicals, etc.? And, a properly set up salt tank will not have "tap" water? I'm glad you responded and I'm anxious to get the Mini-Jet 404 ordered. I'll be doing that today. Finally Suri the Betta can have a quiet, peaceful life again.
