    Exclamation Problem after Skimmer installation

    HI,
I have purchased a new skimmer Instant Ocean Protein Skimm 800 for my 90x45x45 aquarium. I have an issue with water level after installing this skimmer. My water level usually decreases at a very low level (around 1 cm -1.5 cm in a week) but after installing this skimmer. my water level is going down very very rapidly. I am loosing atleast 3 cm level in a week now. Why does this happen and what should I do to avoid this ? Or at least, please let me know this is common... .my aquarium is not an over flow type.... Please advise.

    Cheers / Sashi

    Re: Problem after Skimmer installation

the skimmate that is being produced from your skimmer will in fact lower the water level, that is normal with any skimmer, when you dump the collection cup, thats tank water and goo in the cup. Also evaporation is a factor

    Hey Robert,
Thanks for the note. I am wondering how to manage the reducing water level when I have to travel for weeks together. any suggestions ??

by saying its not an overflow type, I gonna go out on a limb here and assume you don't have a sump, you need to get an auto top off unit set up, I am not real familiar with them as I am a hands on kinda guy, or if you are on the road, hopefully you have a good friend that you can trust and have them top it off
    Tanks,
