Vinegar's what I've always heard. Remember to fill the tank with fresh water first to make sure it doesn't leak. When you put the fresh water in the tank, most of that build up will disappear or become considerably less noticeable.
Hello, I just purchased a used tank and the entire filtration system. I was told to clean it with half and half mixture of hot water and white vinegar. The tank has been sitting for about 6 months and wasn't thoroughly cleaned when taken down. The salt and calcium(?) build up looks pretty thick in some places? Does this sound correct or is there another home remedy to use?
Thank you, Mike
