    Skimmer Recommendation

    Hello

Can anyone recommend a good skimmer for a 75 gallon FOWLR? Ideally it would go in the cabinet (I do not have a sump but would prefer to not have a hang on tank model for this particular tank)

    Thanks!

    Re: Skimmer Recommendation

I've used the AquaC Remora Pro Protein Skimmer With Rio 1400 Pump, AERO FORCE Hang-On Protein Skimmer by CPR Aquatics and the one I got now is from Pro Clear and it's their hang-on 150. And their all good, i'm sure there's better but it's what I've used.
Just don't get a sea clone.

    Re: Skimmer Recommendation

There are a bunch of good external protein skimmers available. Remember external models are more expensive than hang-on or sump models, because they have to be water tight and usually have more fittings.
These all have a pretty good reputation as external skimmers.
    Reef Octopus DNWB-110
Super Reef Octopus XP-2000 Cone Skimmer - External
    Super Reef Octopus 1000 External
    AquaEuro RPS135
    Hydor Performer 500
    Deltec AP600
    H&S A110-F2000
    Lifereef VS2-24
    Warner Marine RS-150

Without a sump, you'll have to gravity feed it, then use a pump (rated for external use) to send it back up to the aquarium. That's 50% of having a sump right there. And you'll really want the skimmer in some sort of a tub anyway, just in case the return pump fails or the skimmer goes haywire.
