Hello reefland! My names aaron. Im just starting out my first saltwater tank. Its smaller at only 37 gallons. I just had a couple questions about the wet/dry trickle filtration system... Should i throw live rock at the bottom of the chamber with the bio bballs? and whats the deal with a protein skimmer? lol im sorry.

hi aaron, welcome to reefland! first off, you want to get rid of the bioballs. with it being a new tank you should be able to take them out at once, dont put any rock in the filter. both of these will collect trash and end up as a nitrate problem. protien skimmers remove organics from the water that if left will build up bacteria........check out the sticky's everything you need to know to get started and get started the RIGHT way is in there. then any questions can be answered....my advice- take your time, do youur homework (read the sticky's), ask lots of questions, take your time, read alot, take your time,.....then ask lots more questions......
