post a pic if you can...it sounds like it may be one of the older models....so a pic would help.

Hello, I purchased a used tank that came with the Euroreef RS80. I am curious about how it should look once hooked up and operational? There is a tube that has a cut off valve on it, I am curious does that hook up to anything (the bottom is already hooked up, wondering about the top end)? I am also interested in the water level in the very top of the unit. There seems to be an overflow valve (unless that is where the tube connects?) at the top. Should the water be reaching this level consistently? I looked at their website and it shows a diagram of the unit, but does not go in depth on how to setup or how it should look once established. I am also curious about the cut off valve near the bottom. Does this control the amount of skimming to take place? It looks like an outdoor spicket to turn (left or right?
Thank you, Mike

I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....
Ok....I will try in the next couple of days. After posting this, found out my mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital in critical condition from septic poisoning, due to pneumonia. It may be a couple of days.
Thank you, MIke
Here are a few photos. The picture is of it running. Notice the constant flow of water out of the valve at the top, I don't think it should be doing this. I believe the water is too high...correct? I believe I need to make some adjustments on the skimmer. The second picture is just of my tank set up during the cycle stage. I haven't aquascaped the tank yet, just added all the saltwater yesterday and cranked everything up. Thank you for any and all advice. This is the Euroreef RS80 that is being shown.

It looks like you need to open the valve more. It looks like its producing to much foam right now...this could be because it simply needs to be adjusted by opening the valve more, which will decrease the flow rate, or it could be from something in the water, or a break in period of the skimmer.....Often when i change out the filter bags with new or clean bags, the skimmer goes crazy for a few hours......
The bubbles and foam level should be just at the collection cup neck where it meets the center tube of the cup, and the dirty foam should be traveling up the collection cup tube.....this will allow for a drier foam, which will collect/bind to the organic waste more effectively..
You should be very pleased how well the skimmer works.
PS...hope all works out well for your mother-in-law.

Thanks! I adjusted the valve some today and it has came down to a small drip every once in awhile. I was told by the person that use to own it, the overflow at the top usually had a tube running from it to a bucket, in case the collection area was full and needing to run off into another area.
Thank you once again, Mike
