To much flow back to tank. Sump ?

Hey guys , quick question. I saw at one point and time a way to divert water back to sump from the pump but I can't see to find it now. I have more water going out than in. Any thoughts?

you have to much water going into your tank, from your sump, and you want to find a way to decrease/devert the flow? Sorry, I don't quite understand what you are asking.
I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....

If your sump is emptying you can put a tee on your return. One side of the tee goes to the return pump. One side goes to the tank, and the third side goes to an adjustable valve (ball or gate) and gets plumbed back into the sump. Or you try to just put an adjustable valve (ball or gate) on the output of your return pump and dial the flow down. Remember, always regulate the output of a pump, never the input.

I forgot to mention, that if you go with the tee solution you should also gate the return to the tank in addition to the sump.

what greg siad...but I quite understand you would need the gate valve on the return line back to the sump?

Re: To much flow back to tank. Sump ?

Thanks for the help guys. I've decided the pump I had was to much flow, it was 950 gph when I turned it on for the first time I thought it was going to blow a hole in the side of the tank lol… I returned it and now have a 700 gph. Now much of a drop from the 950 but I think it will fit my needs better. Thanks again.
