Overflow Box problems

my sump is ****ing up. heres the deal. I accumulate a large amount of bubbles in my overflow box, and cant keep them from stopping accumulating. I have a overflow box rated for 600 gph. i have a return pump rated for 550 gph and im only lifting about 2.5-3 feet so i should be still throwing 450-500 gph in the tank. my sump runs fine, but over time, the water level chamber in the sump that returns water lowers. like lowers alot. why wont my sump keep running properly?

So your pump is running faster than your overflow? Despite the specs?

Do you have pictures of your setup?

Is the overflow running straight to the sump, with no sharp turns?

Do you have a valve on the output side of your pump? If you can restrict the flow out of the pump, does everything work well?

By the way, do not restrict the intake side of your pump, that is bad from what I hear (haven't experienced it first hand).

problem solved. my overflow line was too far under the water level so i raised it up in the sump. Reduced my bubble problem to nothing. Water level is holding steady in the sump now as well. Thanks to the guy who answered my problem on The Reef Tank
