well you can start out filtration with a protein skimmer. some people find it necessarily to have, however, i have two tanks, and neither have a protein skimmer. one tank has a salinity of 1.017 ppm which i keep a freshwater moray in. (yes, i converted him to light salt). and the other runs around 1.024 ppm which houses my snowflake eel a banded coral shrimp and a long tentical tube anemone. i will be getting coral for the heavier salted tank,m i am just waiting to get my lights. i ordered some LED strips, (which is all you need to keep coral happy) off of a website called dealextreme.com , the shipping is free, and prices are vary low, it just takes a while to ship. getting both a marine chemical tester and a reef chemical tester will definitely be the most expense for maintenance. also, snowflakes stay pretty small, with a 150 gal. you shoule be able to get 4 in there before they get crouded, but be careful, they are clumsy and knock EVERYTHING over
hope i was at lease some help!
