Post JBJ 28 NanoCube or Red Sea Max 130D or Buy items indivually???? Help?

Hello to all. I'm hoping you guys learning and expertise can help a starter SW enthusiast. Im ready to take the plunge and purchase whatever it is that I need for long term success.

I'd like to start off slow and simple with the scalability in my setup to move to a SPS.

I have been doing alot of reading on Nano, Red Sea and custom setups and need your feedback on whether to do a all-in-one vs purchase tank, equipment separate?

    Thanks in advance.

First bigger is better. Bigger means more water volume and better stability, that doesn't mean you need a 300g tank either. Depending on your level of enthusiasm I would suggest a 30 0r 50 gallon. I would suggest buying everything separately, no one makes a near perfect nano or complete setup something is always not right and in some cases (nano) you can't add to the system with a built in hood. If you state what size tank you would like to have I'll get back with you and help you choose equipment if you like.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I currently have two options for tanks. I have a standard 48Lx13Wx21H 55 gallon or a fluval osaka tank 40 gallon 24 x 18 x 24.

Any advice on what tank to use and what I need to get started is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

You might want to consider using the 55 for your DT (display tank) and the 40 for a sump. Put an overflow on the 55, put a skimmer and heater in the 40. Then all you need is lighting, carbon, sand, (not crushed coral) LR and a couple circulation pumps and your ready. But don't forget the small items like test kits, container to mix water and salt mix, salt mix and so on.
