    air from pump

So i got a new setup a couple months ago and from day one there was alot of air bubbles coming from my return pump. At the time it didn't really bother me, but now its starting to annoy me to no end. The pump is rated for about 500g/h and looking at the stats it says 400g/h at 4ft which is what my setup is. i do have a larger return pump that will do 600gph at 4ft and i can stick it in there but i figured i'd ask the experts first if you guys thought going bigger would help.

also its a 3/4 pvc return to the tank and i don't have a directional thing on the end, so its just a round pvc hole.

Any on have any tips on what i can do?

most likely you have a leak in the line...either at the connection, or in the line its self...just a pin hole or smaller will allow air to be suck in to the pump, which will then create the small fine bubbles....if you are using hose clamps, tighten them.

Or your skimmer is to close to the intake, and the oveflow from the skimmer, or the return line from the tank is allowing bubbles to be sucked in...if this is the case, place filer media like boi balls or felt in front of the pump to intercept the bubbles...
I swim with them, eat them, catch them, care for them, but never get tired of "them"....

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately i scraped this tank a little while ago. I saw Petco was having deals on tank $1/gal, so i picked up a 55gal glass tank and just stuck a back pak skimmer on it so i no longer have an overflow.

I began to hate the tall hexagon acryllic tank, it was such PITA to clean and i ended up scratching the heck out of it.
