I have a small 5.5 g tank and my heater dyes not turn off unless I raise he temp to Max or lower it.. I'm it sure if its broken butits a marine land and I have a custom lighting idk if that would rise the temp also but it doesn't matter cuhs the heater should turn off at the desired temperature I out it at...

It sounds like you may be describing a malfunctioning heater, so if that's it, just replace it. Otherwise, you run the risk of cooking your tank.

Have you taken any temperature readings?

No I haven't. My previous maribeland heater broke as well maybe I shouldn't get marineland anymore. I've read someone that cooked there fish cuhs the temp reading was off. But I tried using the powered thermometer but it was still very high

Having a thermometer handy is a very basic necessity. Do you know what the temp should be?
