Mag 7 or Quiet One 4000?

75g reef ready, 30g fuge with DSB and chateo. SRO XP1000sss skimmer, Hydor K750 and K1050. Will be a mixed reef.
I've read tons of good and bad things about both pumps. Just wanted some feedback from yous guys. Thanks!

I have a Mag 7. It's pretty noisy. I just sprung for a new pool pump, and got a Pentair variable speed controlled unit that flows about 10k gph, and it's whisper quiet. Why can't my return pump be so quiet?

Thanks Fin. From what I've heard, noise issues are hit and miss with both pumps. As are just about all the other complaints. I ended up getting the QO only because my local PETCO had it. They didn't have any danner pumps so I figured I'd give it a try. BTW, Petsmart stores are having clearance sales this weekend some stuff 50% off. I almost bought a QO 2000(I think) just because it was only $30 and I was sure I could find something to use it for. But shelling out $99 at PETCO for the 4000 ( Petsmart doesnt stock the 4000) was enough.

i got the 4000 for my 125 fish only tank with 55 sump/refug,, how do u like yours so far ?

I actually haven't run it yet. I bought it for a tank swap and fuge install but haven't done it yet. I'm shooting for 2 weeks from now. Ill update this thread when I get it running.

i also have a mag7 pump. it was noisey to start. i used the reef epoxy for my rock and epoxied 4 little rubber feet onto it. it's not whisper quiet but it cut the noise down by 75%.

well i found a real cool guy that i bought a 72 bow front tank from that is willing to help me setup the sump stuff for my 125 reefer , so if i need u i will ask and thanks for offering, this guy works at a lfs near by so he seems to know his stuff, lol , he is nice anyway

we shared alot in common, his mother past with cancer and as u know i had cancer last year so we kind of felt the pain together , i love people and for some reason guys and girls into fishies seem to be cool

there's alot of reading on this forum about sumps and refugiums. i started a post about turning my sump into a refugium and i just finished it this weekend. you shouldn't have any problem finding reading material in this forum about making sumps. glad to hear about wolfpack. it made me smile. i'll let my girlfriend know what you said.
