    skimmer

Ok I bought a skimmer a friend told me was cheap but decent.....its a sky 495 quadplex spraying protein skimmer....it didnt come with instructions so I set it up as best as I saw in YouTube videos..my problem is that foam keeps over flowing and I think maybe I set it up wrong. If I had instructions this would be a lot easier. So I'm wondering if anyone might know where I can get instructions or how I can stop the over flowing thanks.

P.s. only people who can help with this skimmer please reply

there should be a knob to adjust the amount of micro bubbles you have in your skimmer. Just slowly turn it till the bubbles go down to a level where they don't over flow the collection cup. You want the color to be a dark drown once the bubbles have been collected in the cup.

Also, remember that skimmers don't work right untill broken in. It may take weeks or more of small adjustments before you get it dialed in. I don't have experience with that skimmer but my statement usually applies to all new skimmers.

    Re: skimmer

Hi beth, on your return line do you have a valve where you can adjust how much water is flowing back to your tank? If there is you want to make sure it's open all the way for now. Also try opening your venture all the way ( that's the line where you adjust the amount of air flow to your skimmer.) Also what do you have for live stock? Are you using any liquid additives? If you are using liquid additives or liquid food that makes a skimmer over flow.

    Re: skimmer

    hmmm nagging wife really?

About the skimmer overflowing again i think it's your Kent liquid additive. I use the same stuff in my tank and when i use it i turn my skimmer off for about an hour. I also dose it right by my return pump and i only use a 1/4 of what they recommend. Also i dose only every 4 days no more cause if i do you saturate your tank with this kent stuff and the skimmer tries to remove it but cant keep up so it overflows. Just a question how old is your tank and how many corals do you have? And could you post some pics with details of your set up? It might help to further assist you. Thx and have a great evening!
