The problem I have is that I loose about a gallon a day to evaporation .The tank does not have a glass cover. Does anyone no were I can get a glass cover for this tank. I"m new at this, so any help would be apresiated. The lip that the glass would set on is 13 1/2 inches by 34 1/2 inches

I lose about 3-5 gallons a day. Its actually a good thing. It promotes good O2 and gas exchange. I would not advise putting a lid on a tank unless you plan on putting fish in that are prone to jumping out.

+1 - the benefits listed above using no cover is worth the evaporation rate. Look at it this way - you are always going to lose water. So you will always have to put back in. Better to promote gas exchange...and needless to say release heat (in this summer) without one.

+4 on no lids. But your LFS should have them if not get a sheet of acrylic at a hardware store and most places will cut it for free.
    good luck!
