Hi everybody

I'm new here, new for saltwater tanks as well...

I have been keeping a planted tank for above 10 years.

I have decided to make one tank as a FOWLR, still in progress...

however, as the weather is always HOT here, I have been told to buy a chiller, I got one from friend, the chiller has been stored years in a store, but it is (NEW), I need help just to know how to operate the chiller, and IF this type is safe for saltwater?? my tank size is 55G

To use a chiller. One hose is intake the other is return line. Set your temp on unit to what you want your tank temp at, and off you go.
I use 4 CPU coolings fans blowing across the surface of my water, keeps my tank cool. I live in Arizona, temp was 113 today. Its hot here also. I don't use a chiller.

Yes, over ten years with a planted tank, it is 150cm long, and I use 2 CPU fan 4'' enough to cool it down to 27C

BUT, I have noticed that fans will evaporate the water, that was not the problem since I can add new fresh water every day

And also I have a 100cm long tank which I decided to make it FOWLR or with anemone, I don’t prefer to use fan for the same reason (evaporate) the water, and I have to add distilled water every day to reach the top of the tank and you know the rest of testing issue.

However, I got the chiller at the moment, the only concern in my mind is (is it used for saltwater)?? Or it will generate rust? As I don’t know what is the coolant element is made from? Copper? Aluminum? Or titanium?

As I read generally used titanium in chiller. BUT this is china J
