I've got the 4 bulb and I love it. Three seperate timers for all three lights. Great output and the moonlights give a great shimmer. I highly recommend it.

    Re: T5 HO Lighting for a 90

I had 48" T-5's on my 90 when I was building it, but I did a 4 bulb "build it yourself" type kit. I got an IceCap 660 ballast, waterproof end caps, individual reflectors, 4 different types of bulbs (don't remember them off the top of my head) and then mounted it all inside of my canopy. I never got to really run the tank, but turned on the lights every night to make sure they worked properly. It was really cool and I liked them a lot. To my understanding I would have been able to run any type of corals in that tank with that lighting. So, if you're looking at running an 48" 8 bulb setup, I'm sure you'll be just fine. I just wanted something that I could mount into the canopy because the type of system you are talking about I wouldn't have been able to mount it under my canopy due to size.

I found out what T-5's I used: One Geismann Actinic Plus, One GE 6500K Starcoat Daylight, One Geismann Aquablue Plus (11K) and a ATI True Actinic 03.
