Question SWC Octopus DNW 150 skimmer aux. pump?

Will a maxijet 1200 service the supply side for this skimmer? The reason I am asking is I just pumped out my 72 gal tank I have been leak testing and the utility pump I have emptied it in maybe 15 minutes. I had thought this utility pump was what was used for the skimmer but I realized tonight the guy had about 20 ft of 3/4 inch hose attached to it with a ball valve on the end. After scratching my head for a few I decided he must have used this pump as a service from his RO barrels to his tank for top offs and changes. Why else would he have had that much tubing attached to it? I have a MJ 1200 in good condition and was just wondering.

Not likely used for a skimmer, as that is way to much intake for any skimmer I know of. Usually skimmers are around 500-900gph. Except the big ones of course.
This is the pump for a SWC Octopus.

The recirculating pump on the skimmer is fine. It is a OCT 2000. I was looking for the pump to supply water from the sump to the skimmer. I did identify the utility pump I have as a mag drive 2. 250 GPH. The recommended supply pump for the skimmer is suppose to feed 1.5 times the total system volume based on Auqua Caves specs for this skimmer. If I figure 90 gal total sump and tank then if I understand the specs I need 135 gph to supply the skimmer? Am I correct? If you have not figured it out (LOL) I am learning on the run! T hanks

Ok I found a tube vid that helped me understand this thing of a similar skimmer. The large grey pipe on the skimmer returns water to the sump. A smaller clear tube is hooked to the skimmer from a pump or gravity return line from DT to feed water to skimmer. The ball valve on the large grey pipe controls water level either increasing or decreasing return to the sump. The small tube from the collection cup drains the cup if you like to a bucket but can this cup drain be returned to the sump? I believe my mag drive 2 will supply more than enouph water and to keep the water at the correct height in the skimmer and may actually allow some water to bypass the skimmer and be brought back in from the sump again. The venturi air line on the side injects air into the recirculating pump on the skimmer itself. Have I about got it?

No, not quite. the supply line does not come from the DT. The input line into the skimmer comes from the sump. Depending on the sump, its usually in the 1st or 2nd section of the sump, thats where your pump will be put to supply the skimmer.
