    Refugium help

I have a 125 gallon with 225 pounds of live rock and a 40 breeder for the sump. That was too much rock for the DT, just looked like a big wall. I took out as much rock as I could get in the sump. I have a table over the sump that I want to put a Refugium on. I want to use a 10 gallon tank. My question is, I want to t off the sump pump to fill the refugium. The only way I can think of getting the water back to the sump is to drill a hole in the Refugium put in a bulkhead and run a hose back to the sump. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Also how would I partion the Refugium.

Personally, I think this is a disaster waiting to happen. IMO, you're now at the mercy of two pumps and getting them to stay in line to regulate your water is going to be a challenge. Why not just use a few baffles and section off a part of the fuge.

    Re: Refugium help

I want to eliminate one pump. The pump in my sump, pumps water to the DT. I want to tee off of that and pump it up where the Refugium will be, which is on a table up off the sump. Now the water has to get back to the sump. I thought drilling the end of the tank and put in a bulkhead with a piece of PVC pipe sticking out a few inches, so it can drain back to the sump. Is there a Another way to get the water from the Refugium back to the sump. On the end with the hole, I will put a divider in about 4 inches from the End and 8 to 10 inches high, it would fall out of the hole which now is in the small section of the Refugium and drained back to the sump. It's very simple but I thought there might be an easier way. Thank you for the response

You need to drill or use something called a "spillbox" then. Good luck!
