Question How important buffering substrate material?

How important is it to use a buffering substrate material. If I understand correctly live sand has no buffering capacity or am I wrong?

Re: How important buffering substrate material?

Its not a huge point to dwell on. SOme people have used the Black Sand. Its all a preference. There are people that run bare bottom systems. No worries.
But, from what I hav read, Crushed Coral, Live Sand and Aragonite buffer.
