Question Seeding base rock with a culture?

Base rock is cheap locally. About a dollar a pound. I was thinking of purchasing mostly all base rock and seeding it with a live culture solution available at many places online to save on buying 8-9 dollar a pound live rock. Since I prefer not to deal with unwanted hitchhikers and since my fowlr tank that is to be transfered once cycled has 29lbs of live rock in it, will this work. In other words I would be buying about 75 lbs of base rock and a 15$ bottle of live bacteria culture for salt water and once cycled would add 29 lbs of live rock.

Will this work or is it a problem?

Yes it will work, even if you don't use the bacteria, and even if you don't throw in the 29lbs after the fact. Your rock will grow bacteria on its own. Putting in a piece of Live Rock, seeds the neat things from the Live Rock, things that don't come in a bottle. You don't have to use any Live Rock in your tank at all, the bacteria needed for your tank will grow by itself during the cycle.

Thanks. The live rock locally is cultured and has no hitchhikers other than coraline algae. They want 8 bucks a pound for it. I assume since my live rock and cultured rock in my folwr is going in after the cycle I can save some money and have the best of both worlds.
