    Test kit recommendation

I'm currently using the basic API test kit and Reef master API. I'm going to start buying Elos test kits but what API test are good? So I don't have to buy all the Elos tests? I know that calcium is good but are there any others I should keep? Elos is pricey so I'm trying to save a little money.

I'll probably just keep with them then I got new test tubes because I realized that those caps don't work to well and lose water. My LFS has been trying to get me to buy the red sea test kits and was telling me that API are bad and when he tested my water yesterday and my results were almost exact to what my test results were with my API

    Re: Test kit recommendation

my first test kit was a red sea kit back in like 1979 or something. when i got back into the hobby again, i began using API kits. I can't say they are the best out there, but i can say they do the job. i am not sure that it is vital that a test be perfect, only that it be consistant. for example, say your PH. if it is a point or two off from what the test reads doesnt really matter that much. what is more important is that it remains as steady as possible. as long as the kits are sharp enough to pick up changes, i feel they are doing what you need. i managed a shop named aquarium zone here in columbus years ago. we used API tests in the store. i see nothing wrong with what you have.
