    Rattle Rattle Arg!

I replaced the empellers on two Hydor K3s. At start up there is a very annoying rattle. They run quite otherwise. Is this common with a new empeller? Is this common with the K3s? It is not a click but a rattle. Will they eventually seat in or what?

I had the same problem from my hydor this is the email I received from them hope it helps..

    Hi Adam,

Thankyou for your email regarding a vibrating nano koralia. This is usually caused by air trapped behind the propeller, proceed as follows>

    Either :

Unstick the pump from the side of the aquarium and give it a good shake under water to remove the air.

    or

Whilst the pump is under water tip it up so that the nose cone is pointing upwards, then shake. Sometimes its a good idea to get someone else to turn the appliance off when you you shake it as this can make it easier for any trapped air to be released.

Any further queries please contact me directly.

Good luck with the "air" thing. I've had mine apart many, many times. There is no air in the thing, its just how they are. But its only on powerup. Do you trun yours off all the time? I never turn mine off unless I'm gonna clean them.

Mine are running on a wave timer. At 60 second intervals they switch from one to the other.

You can't run those on a timer. You can't run the AC Koralias on the timer, you have to run the DC Koralias on the timer. The AC Koralias were not meant for a timer.

Crap! I made the mistake of since a wave timer was in the package these were what was used. I have them on continuous now. I don't think he ran the steam pump on a timer. Wonder what he was using. Arrg. More money for some wave makers.

Sorry man, unless he was using them on a timer, and didn't mind the noise. But you don't need to have the wavemaker. Your system will do ok without it. Or was using the timer for lights or something?

The stream pump is a Tunze 6060A. I am wondering if he used the timer to set up current surges. The timer is a actual wave maker. It cycles by setting from 20 sec. to 1 minute.

    Sounds like a plan.
