MY 72 bow front is up and running. I plan on starting the cycle soon but I thought I would give a brief, and incomplete review of my thoughts so far.
The RKL is a sleek nice looking controller and is running most of my systems without a hitch. That would include skimmer with its 2 pumps, return pump, fuge light, and my heater which I will discuss more about farther down. One feature I think some forget is how many amps you are pulling from a house circuit. Your total amps for each PC4 module is readily available for display. Mine is drawing 2.8 amps on average from my one PC module. I have the basic unit for now and it only comes with the one PC module. The display is large enoeph for my old eyes to easily read. One note worth mention is that each channel (outlet) on the PC module does not know how many things are plugged into it. I used a grounded multi plug splitter to run both my skimmer pumps on one outlet. No problems at all. A little self upgrade.
cons: The documentation that comes with the unit is sub par and you must go online and download the full users manual. Even then the user manual is a bit confusing at first until you play with the unit some. An example is the heater function. If your heater has a self contained control the quick set up works fine. They don't tell you until very late in the manual that if your heater is not self contained as mine and has a seperate controller you must use the controller function and set up the Itemp probe seperately to tell your heater to shut on and off. In other words you read and set up a generic heater program that will not work if you have the style of heater I have. Those two sections in the manual are seperated by many pages. It took me a day and a half to get that far with the heater. Maybe I am dense but it seems confusing until you realize you are not setting up a heater but a function called "controller" I think I have it figured out for now but we will see by tomorrow if I am correct.
