    Skimmer dilema

The lights for the tanks are on the way. Now I need to get a skimmer. There are so many types and brands though. The guys at the LFS told me that you can get by with some skimmer call the eliminator. I am not to thrilled with the "getting by" message. I want something that is going to do it and do it right. I am torn between two skimmers: The Euro Reef csg-1 or an e.t.s. evolution 500. This is for the 65 gallon. It is predrilled from the factory ang we are going to install a sump underneath for a small refugium style filter bed. Putting a second sump in for the skimmer is an option as well. I also will be setting up a 120 gallon this winter and unless the skimmer on the 65 sucks I will probably use one of these, upgraded for size though.

Wading through the muck of info,

i have the euroreef fkimmer and 3 things make it one of the very best out their. 1 it is one of the best working skimmer out their. 2 its one of the eziest skimmer to operate and cleen. 3 its hande made and is of the best qualit..... and it runs of ove a small quite pump.
most of the becket and down draft skimmers need huge water pumps that usualy cost $100++ and usualy arnt included with the price of the skimmer. i have herd good and bad things about the e.t.s. evolution 500 (being dificalt to get working but works really well once its dielled in) but i have never herd or seen a complaint about the euro-reef skimmer (i am sure their out their just never seen personlay)

I use the ETS super reef devil running on my 80 with 30 gall sump and am very happy with it. I clean it every 2 mounths which takes less than 15 minutes and is easy to adjust plus it started skimming as soon as it was hocked up and it really keeps the scumb flowing. They are under $200 with pump.

Well I also have an ets skimmer a RD40 which is the first version of the reef devil. While this can be a good skimmer I have found that it requires execisive maintiance when used with an established eco system. I find that the bioballs clog up every mth from all of the micro fanua ie mysis and cocopods ect. Infact I suspect this is yet another reason why people are dyi beckett mod's.
